With his own prior experience as a hands-on business entrepreneur and CEO of a closely-held business, Henry passionately understands the practical as well as the legal aspects of juggling business demands, risks, and rewards and the need for a rapid response time. Clients have come to trust that his business management perspective and pragmatic legal counsel will have more than additive value for them.
A science major before law school, Henry maintains a keen interest in science and technology, both through avocation and through his clientele. He is a former trustee, executive committee member, and corporate secretary of the Science Center of Connecticut. He is currently serving on the Programs Committee of the Board of the current Connecticut Science Center. He sponsors an exhibit area at the Science Center to display exciting science, engineering, math, and technology projects of Connecticut students. He also brings his schooling to bear as a member of the Columbia Connecticut Lake Management Advisory Committee. Henry has many satisfied technology clients.
Henry’s legal and business acumen has been cross-pollinated by volunteer interests. He is a prior Co-Chair of the International Law Practice Group of ALFA International and a member of the Connecticut World Affairs Council. As a recipient of the Charles A. Dukes Award, Henry’s motivating and results-driven alumni leadership has been recognized by his alma mater, Duke University. He formerly served as an appointee to the Connecticut Secretary of State’s Business Advisory Committee. Henry is a past Chair of the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and an active member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, where he sits on its Middle Market and Small Business and Mergers and Acquisitions Committees. Moreover, he has served on the faculty of an ABA National Institute on Closely-Held Businesses. He is a former member of the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce as the chair of its Small Business Council. Henry is also an active author, having published a number of scholarly business and commercial law articles and client legal alerts.
Henry’s legal craftsmanship and ethical standards have earned him an AV rating from the peer-reviewed legal directory, Martindale-Hubbell. Henry has been recognized by Chambers USA in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions since 2012, earning a Band 2 ranking in 2019 and 2020. He has also been selected for Super Lawyers® from 2009-2012 in the areas of Business/Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities and Corporate Finance and in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2006 in the areas of Corporate Governance, Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities/Capital Markets Law.
