Jack Bradley and Vincent Liberti represented a Central CT hospital (an existing client of ours) in successfully resolving a complicated hospital discharge problem involving a 19 year old autistic and mentally disabled group home resident who had been involuntarily committed in the hospital’s in-patient psychiatric unit. The group home was unwilling to accept the patient back after her hospital treatment was completed and she remained there, without a suitable placement, for over six months. The young woman was mired in a jurisdictional dispute over responsibility for placement between two State agencies, the former group home, and a school district. The case highlighted the dearth of group home and mental health services that exist in Connecticut.
