Halloran & Sage Attorney Richard Roberts recently presented an educational seminar “Legal Requirements and Procedures” to Connecticut Land Use Commissioners at UConn’s Center for Land Use Education and Research. The program outlined the legal responsibilities of land use boards including procedural requirements, suggested timelines and public notice issues.
The Connecticut Land Use Academy seeks to provide practical and accessible education for local land use decision makers across the state, focusing on the basic skills needed to serve on a land use board. The curriculum of the program includes four courses: the Roles & Responsibilities of Land Use Commissions; Legal Requirements and Procedures of Land Use Decision Making; Map Reading for Site Plan Review; and Plans of Conservation and Development. The Academy is supported by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management, with funds provided by the state Legislature.
