Richard Roberts Facilitating Session at Connecticut Farm Bureau’s 2nd Annual Statewide Conference

Richard Roberts of the Real Estate Practice Group will facilitate a session, “Overview of Land Use Regulation in Connecticut and its Applicability to Agriculture” at the Connecticut Farm Bureau’s 2nd Annual Statewide Conference.  The conference will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Maneeley’s in South Windsor.

The day long conference entitled, “How Planning and Zoning Impacts Connecticut Agriculture” is designed to provide farmers with an overview of the fundamentals of planning and zoning regulations and effective strategies for working with planning and zoning commissions.  Also, covered will be information on how farmers can work with municipal leaders to adopt local tax reductions programs, agricultural commissions, and right to farm ordinances.  Municipal leaders and planners will also benefit from the conference as initiatives communities can adopt to support local agriculture will be discussed.  Specifically, Mr. Roberts’ portion of the seminar will discuss the roles and functions of various land use agencies under Connecticut law and their respective jurisdictional and oversight responsibilities with respect to agricultural land uses.
