Attorney Carrie L. Burnsed received a positive plaintiff’s decision in favor of her client(s), Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments Animal Services and an Animal Control Officer in an animal abuse and neglect case. Since January 2024, there were many complaints made against the defendant for the treatment of animals in her care. Animal control officers found the defendant’s residence to have an excessive number of dogs and other animals in extremely unsanitary conditions.
In July 2024, the plaintiff served a warrant to take possession of the 96 dogs and 7 other animals on the property due to neglect and cruel treatment. In Connecticut Superior Court, the defendant made an oral motion to suppress, claiming the warrant was invalid. Attorney Burnsed objected to the defendant’s case law and the court found the warrant to be valid, denying the defendant’s motion.
