James Szerejko, past President of the HCBA has a copy of Day of Empire: How Hyperpowers Rise to Global Dominance – and Why They Fall signed by the book’s author, Yale Law School Professor Amy L. Chua at the Hartford County Bar Association’s 2012 Annual Meeting. He attended a keynote address and book signing by Professor Chua, who was named as Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2011. The speech and book-signing were a part of the association’s annual meeting event.
Professor Chua is currently the John M. Duff Professor of Law at Yale University. She is well known for her book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, which was excerpted in The Wall Street Journal in 2011. Her earlier book, which she signed for James, argues that “tolerance and multiculturalism are indispensable features of global economic and military success,” according to Publishers Weekly.
