The law firm of Halloran & Sage LLP is pleased to announce that it has responded to the Hartford Police Department’s call for donations, and contributed funds sufficient to sustain the Hartford Mounted Police Unit through the end of their fiscal year. Earlier this month the four horse, four officer unit was threatened with being dismantled due to the City’s budget deficit.
The unit’s administrative sergeant initiated a private fundraising campaign this past summer that would enable the City to continue to provide horse patrols. By mid-January approximately $2000 was contributed by downtown businesses and civic groups but the fundraising effort still fell far short of its goal.
Several weeks ago Halloran & Sage became aware of the campaign through media coverage and immediately responded. Managing Partner Bill McGrath said of the mounted patrol, “It is an important community service and we are happy to be involved. As a long established Hartford law firm, we are proud to be able to donate the funds to sustain this important public service through the fiscal year.”
