On February 25, 2021, Partner Joseph Fortner was a panelist during an American Bar Association Public Contracts Section — State and Local Procurement Committee Panel regarding “Cybersecurity Trends Driving the State, Local & Education Market.” Joe spoke regarding cyber and ransomware attacks, discussing state and Federal obligations, and suggestions of actions to take before and after learning of a possible attack. Other speakers were several members of immixGroup (a distributor of enterprise software and hardware products for public sector solution providers and government agencies) and Kroll, a global provider of services and digital products related to governance, risk, and transparency.
Together they provided an overview of cybersecurity trends driving the state, local, and education markets. They also examined the value that distribution brings to the market and how distribution can help overcome procurement hurdles.
As chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, co-chair of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group and a member of the Cybersecurity Practice Group, Joe’s practice spans a breadth of matters relevant to the ABA Committee Meeting’s discussion.
Joe represents clients in intellectual property, business, and commercial disputes. His practice includes contract disputes, business fraud and other commercial torts, technology-related claims, trade regulation and competitor claims, unfair trade practices, class actions, and product-related commercial disputes. He also represents clients in matters arising from trade secrets and confidential information. Joe furthermore represents clients in trademark and trade dress, copyright, and patent disputes in multiple industries, including in information technology.
