Connecticut Veterans Legal Center Suggests Firms Follow Halloran Sage’s Suit

In “A Gathering Storm Threatens the Future of Legal Aid,” Liam Brennan, Executive Director of Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC), writes that the coronavirus pandemic is presenting a number of concerns for the legal aid community, including funding shortfalls amidst growing legal needs. Among the ways to help support Connecticut’s most vulnerable citizens, Brennan recommends that private firms follow Halloran Sage’s suit, and suggest attorneys volunteer their time to handle the barrage of cases.

Brennan writes, “While housing cases are on hold, VA benefits and other administrative cases are still proceeding. For attorneys trained to practice VA benefits law, this is the perfect opportunity to help low-income veterans in need.”

Halloran Sage was also recognized for their work with CVLC in 2019, as the Pro Bono Award recipient of the Hartford County Bar Association Law Day Committee. The Firm’s exceptional efforts in this regard were covered by statewide media in a Hartford Courant article and on Lite 100.5 WRCH’s weekly public affairs show, Spotlite.
