Halloran Sage attorneys are connecting with their local communities to provide needed aid to medical service providers, small businesses, and struggling families during the coronavirus epidemic. The efforts of two such attorneys, Fred Trotta and Morris Borea, are highlighted here.
As a co-owner of local Wallingford company, Biocell Ambulance Protection Services, attorney Fred Trotta is involved in the protection of first responders from coronavirus. Several years ago, the company created the Biocell ambulance protective system, which is a one-size-fits-all plastic lining designed to federal guidelines. The system can be quickly installed in an ambulance prior to transporting patients with contagious infections, protecting paramedics and the ambulance interior from pathogens. The product is now in use across the country in the battle against COVID-19. The company and its product were featured in an Eyewitness News Channel 3 segment earlier this year.
Attorney Morris Borea is the President of the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill Chapter of UNICO National, an Italian American service organization, as well as a Trustee of the UNICO National Foundation. He is active in the organization’s myriad efforts to support the community through the COVID-19 pandemic, including food distribution, fundraising, and a novel coupon program to support both struggling families and small businesses in the Wethersfield area.
The local UNICO chapter that Morris leads has provided food to the Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, and Newington Police Departments and Volunteer Ambulance Departments; the Hartford Hospital ICU staff; Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center ICU staff; and two COVID-19 testing centers’ staff. They also designed and funded the UNICO Serves coupon program, donating $5,000 worth of coupons for local eateries to Wethersfield Social Services. The coupons have been distributed to over 150 families via food pantry grocery bags. Morris was interviewed by Jodi Latina of Channel 8 WTNH about the program.
The firm was proud to help keep Connecticut communities safe by sponsoring the Masks for Connecticut Giveaway at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. Morris Borea and Richard Roberts represented the firm at the distribution effort. Eyewitness News Channel 3 was on hand to cover the event.
