Environmental & Land Use Chair Ann Catino recently took part in the Connecticut Business & Industry Association’s 2016 Energy & Environment Conference. Ann led a breakout session entitled “New Policies & Best Practices for Handling Common Spills & Maintenance Waste,” which included Michael Ainsworth of HRP Associates and Hugo DelRosso of US Ecology. Ann focused on historic releases and reporting under Connecticut’s Significant Environmental Hazard reporting law. Michael and Hugo discussed imminent releases and how to respond. The discussion included developments under the State’s new law on reporting recent spills, reported as Public Act. No. 16-199. The all-day conference—attended by manufacturers, small business owners and energy entrepreneurs, among others—provided updates on state and federal enforcement trends, energy opportunities for small and large businesses and DEEP cleanup transformation, plus breakout sessions hosted by leaders in the business energy and environmental fields.
