“I find effective and cost-efficient resolutions that meet my clients’ needs, achieving settlement when possible, and engaging in aggressive litigation when necessary.”

Peter Royer is co-chair of the firm’s Litigation practice and chair of the Commercial Litigation section. He handles a wide range of commercial litigation matters including business disputes, breach of contract cases, and construction litigation.

He represents private and institutional lenders and municipalities in foreclosures, collection actions, replevin actions, prejudgment remedy applications and all bankruptcy proceedings as well as represents commercial landlords in summary process and collection actions. He has an extensive practice representing property owners, lenders and title companies in connection with real property disputes involving instruments recorded outside the chain of title and gaps in the chain of title as well as matters concerning adverse possession claims, boundary disputes and conflicting surveys. Peter has tried several cases to conclusion in state and federal court, consistently securing favorable judgments for his clients.

In addition to his litigation practice, Peter routinely assists private and institutional lenders in workouts of distressed debt, loan restructures, forbearance agreements and the purchase and sale of secured debt.

Peter stays informed on the latest developments of his field and is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section. He is also a member of the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court, a nationwide organization that works to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility and legal skills.
