Peter Sachner is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on medical malpractice defense and hospital liability law, having dedicated his career to the representation of physicians, hospitals, and other health care professionals for over twenty-five years. In addition to maintaining a thriving litigation practice, Peter counsels clients on a variety of health care-related issues, including hospital risk management, patient care issues, peer review, and physician licensure issues, among others. As a skilled communicator who is devoted to his client relationships, Peter provides an aggressive defense or measured negotiations as the particular case and the best interests of his client warrant. He considers his work with risk managers and senior litigation managers to be a strategic partnership, and his goal is to provide them with excellent results as together they evaluate and resolve complex issues and difficult cases.
Peter has extensive jury, court trial and appellate experience, and has appeared before health care regulatory agencies and professional licensing boards. He has presented and authored material for National Business Institute’s continuing legal education seminars, including “Advanced Issues in Connecticut Medical Malpractice” and “Trying the Soft Tissue Injury Case in Connecticut.”
Peter is a member of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association and Defense Research Institute, and a past member of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Society for Healthcare Risk Management. While in law school, he was Articles and Book Review Editor of the Connecticut Law Review. Peter has been listed in Connecticut Super Lawyers®. He is recognized in the 2022 publication of The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Litigation – Insurance and in the 2023 publication for Litigation – Health Care and Litigation – Insurance.
